PE and Sport Premium

The government has guaranteed funding specifically for primary school PE and sport.  This funding is provided jointly by the Department for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and goes directly to head teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.

The vision is that all pupils will leave primary school being physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.  The objective is for primary schools to achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport they offer.  Funding is calculated by the number of primary-aged pupils.

River Bank Primary School believes that active involvement in PE and sport raises standards and addresses issues such as health and well-being, confidence and self-esteem.  The school was founded on the principle that physical education and school sport will be at the heart of the school and the wider community.
